I have a recommendation for a lubricating oil for fans that may be a bit unconventional. I use Boeshield T-9, which is also great as a rust inhibitor. It doesn’t gunk up or attract dirt and dust like other oils, and it seems to stay in place for a long time. This is a response to Matthias Wandel’s video “Fixing a seized oscillating fan motor”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXvNa… I have not been compensated for the makers of Boeshield T9 for this suggestion.
In this video, I make a handle and assemble the Carbide Roughing Gouge kit from Rockler. This is a roughing tool, so it removes material well, although it doesn’t produce a particularly smooth finish. But not having to sharpen the tool should be a big plus! I made the handle from laminated pallet wood and finished it with a shop-made finish that contains Boiled Linseed Oil and varnish.
