Simple Variable Speed Treadmill Motor Electrical Conversion

I pulled the motor, speed controller, and control board out of an old treadmill and converted them into a variable-speed drive for a power tool. After stripping out the parts I didn't need — the display, the incline motor, and its control circuit — I swapped in a simple potentiometer to control speed in place of the treadmill's original input board, and wired the motor and speed controller straight to power. It's not a plug-and-play kit, but with a treadmill motor, a $10 potentiometer, and some patience with the wiring, it's a solid, cheap way to get a variable-speed drive.
