Upgraded Blade for Harbor Freight #4 Hand Plane

The stock blade on my Harbor Freight #4 hand plane was thin, rough, and wouldn't hold an edge, so I swapped it for a WoodRiver replacement blade instead. After sharpening it, fitting it to the plane, and opening up the mouth a bit to match the thicker blade, along with more flattening and sanding on the body itself, the plane finally started performing the way I wanted. If you don't mind putting in a few hours of cleanup work, it's a solid budget setup — I'd recommend the WoodRiver blade if you're looking to upgrade one of these.
