In this video I compare two Slimline pen kits from two different suppliers. Rockler: SlimlinePen Kit in Gold US$1.99 (on sale) http://www.rockler.com/slimline-pen-hardware-kit-gold Craft Supplies: Apprentice Fancy Slimline Kit 24K gold US$1.79 https://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/1/684/Apprentice-Fancy-Slimline-Pen-Kit They’re almost identical, but the middle band and the clip design make me favor the one from Craft Supplies.
I have a recommendation for a lubricating oil for fans that may be a bit unconventional. I use Boeshield T-9, which is also great as a rust inhibitor. It doesn’t gunk up or attract dirt and dust like other oils, and it seems to stay in place for a long time. This is a response to Matthias Wandel’s video “Fixing a seized oscillating fan motor”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXvNa… I have not been compensated for the makers of Boeshield T9 for this suggestion.
In this video, I upgrade the Harbor Freight #4 hand plane that I reviewed in a previous video with a new WoodRiver V3 blade. The new blade makes a big improvement in the functionality of this low budget plane.
My review of a very low budget hand plane, the Central Forge #4 available at Harbor Freight, item#92553. This plane comes with a “mini plane” which isn’t good enough to include in the review, in my humble opinion.
I’ve had good luck finding replacement parts for tools and appliances at eReplacementParts.com Their site is easy to use, their prices are good, and the shipping is fast and affordable. I’m not getting any compensation for recommending their site. I just find it useful and like helping people fix things instead of throwing them out.
